#About Paris's Artificial Beach

Paris's Beach (Paris Plage), or the Paris Beach, is one of the joyous places in Paris. It is an artificial beach, that opens up every summer, along the banks of the Seine River that divides the city. The beach starts near the Louvre Museum and ends near the Île Saint-Louis.

This is how Paris, a city far around from the ocean, was able to create its own beach.

The idea came from the city municipality, in 2002 the mayor Bertrand Delanoë thought of the idea. The city cleared around along the river banks and filled them up with sand, added sunbathing chairs and sun umbrellas for people to use, as well as showers, and a few trees and greenery. The Parisians enjoy their beach, especially the ones who did not go on a summer vacation.

The beach opens up each summer, starting from July 20th for about a month. This beach, which even has seashells, is without a doubt a genius idea and has had the honor of being imitated in similar towns around France.

#About the Pretty Hong Kong Beach

Repulse Bay, on the southern side of the island, is a beautiful beach surrounded on a promenade. In the bay, located not far away from Stanely Market, you will find a nice promenade along the beach. There are pubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants.

Pretty close to the beach line you will see a colorful temple, with a few special colorful statues, that can't be found anywhere else in the city. Locals respect these statues greatly. Much attention and focus are given, and a lot of respect towards the "Happiness" statue in this temple.

#Tips

Walking here along the beach at sunset around the bay is a very recommended activity.

If it's a picnic on the grass, volleyball on the sand, or a walk or a run - this is a wonderful way to spend an evening. One of the nice things is that you can see the Prince's Islands in the distance.

#Tips

Trying getting here by sunset, and bring some snacks and drinks with you for a calm Istanbul-like evening.

#About the Village that Sits Over a Great Turquoise Bay

Almyrida Bay is a turquoise bay that is relaxed and beautiful, and has a great beach for children, and the whole family. It is located 14 kilometers before the city of Chania, in south Crete.

The village of Almyrida near the bay is a small fishing village, with real tavernas on the shoreline, great and cheap food, and amazing accommodations.

Those dreaming of the relaxing Greek beaches, will love the air of vacation over this area. In the wonderful beach of the bay you can enjoy a more Greek village vacation, without big crowds of tourists.

Here, you can sit at a cafe near the water, or on the beach itself, with your feet in the warm water, and kids playing around. The secret to this beach is not only the absence of waves, but also the depth of the sea, about 60 centimeters, safe for children to enjoy. The atmosphere here fits the scene- kids playing on the beach and in the water, without too much supervision, but without excessive yelling and screaming.

In short, with the hypnotizing bay, the great beach, that delicious food and welcoming people- it is worth to stop by here, even for a few hours, for a few days, and enjoy the island.

The sandy beach is located on the western side of Heraklion. Easily reached from the city, though walking by foot is not recommended. The waters are shallow, but sometimes a little wavy. The beach has full services and water sport activities for those interested.

Elafonisi Beach
#The Nearest Beach to Paradise

With pinkish sand, turquoise, warm and shallow water and the appearance reminiscent of a tropical beach, the inhabitants of Crete see the Elafonisi Beach as one of the island's most beautiful beaches.

The shallow beach with its warm water shaded by trees, is excellent for families with small children. A tiny village lies right beside it, where a small island is also connected by a lagoon. The island, also called Elafonisi has a walk through the lagoon where one can walk through the shallows to reach the island.

Elafonisi has the option of an orderly beach, with all the facilities on its eastern side, or the wild, un-commercial beach. Umbrellas, showers, rescue services, and kiosks on the eastern side are suitable for those who love comfort, while on the western side the adventurers and those who love the quiet and nature will find a pristine and less crowded escape.

The coastline is located at the southwestern tip of the island, about 75 kilometers southwest of the city of Chania, which is consistent with the claim that the better beaches in Crete are actually the less developed beaches in the southern part of the island.

#Tips

If you are interested in a quiet and peaceful beach, come to the beach in the afternoon. Starting at 16:00, the buses collect the many tourists in Elafonisi and you can enjoy a quiet and wonderful atmosphere until sunset.

Matala Beach
#About Matala Beach - The Hippy Beach

Matala beach is a sandy beach the started getting popular around the 1960's, and turned into a hippy beach, for the American "flower child."

The beach lays in a cliff area, filled with rock-hewn caves, that have been used throughout the island's history for a variety of uses. From digging in the caves on the beach, researchers have learned a lot about the history of the area, from the Minoan period, and on. During the Roman period these caves were used as burial sites.

In the 1960's young Americans discovered the beach looking for peace and love. So the place that during the Minoan period was the city's port of Festus, and in the days of Greek mythology, the Greek god Zeus brought Princess Europe here - to the beach of the "hippies" who opposed the Vietnam War, sang and played the Beatles and Bob Dylan. They lived in the ancient Roman burial caves, and turned into communities that suntanned naked and sang protest songs.

This is where Joan Baez was discovered, the singer who began her career in Matala and became a national figure in America in the late 1960's.

Today the beach still attracts many tourists, some come to enjoy the sixties atmosphere and its free spirit, while others come to Matala for the small towns, the lively nightlife here, and the hotels in the north end.

#About the Charming Beach and Town

Plakias was once a peaceful and picturesque fishing village on the waterfront in southern Crete. Today the spot has become a charming little town, with beaches reminiscent of the Far East.

It is hidden in a small bay and apart from landscapes, a pleasant atmosphere and a sea breeze, it is one of the most popular places on the island and a favorite haven for beach lovers. The sandy beach is great for swimming and water sports, it is well organized and ideal for a full day's entertainment.

In the surrounding area, one can go hiking. If you choose to head east towards Damnoni you will find more isolated beaches, some of which are even nudist beaches.

Preveli
#About the Waterfall on the Pleasant Preveli Beach

The estuary at the Preveli Canyon, also known as palgrove, is where the river flows into the sea. It is a sandy bay at the mouth of the Kourtaliotis channel, which creates, along with the spring, a delta that flows into the sea.

Not far from the beach are palm trees and oleander, along with the waterfalls, freshwater pools and palm groves, creating a beach that resembles a tropical lagoon. This experience is enhanced by the clear waters of Preveli Beach.

History buffs may find the Moni Monastery an interesting attraction. Located two kilometers away from Preveli, its proximity to the seashore and relative isolation contributed to the fact that this monastery was used by the inhabitants of Crete who rebelled against the Turks. However the rebellion against the Ottomans failed and they suffered many losses at the hands of the Turks, until they were defeated.

Either way, the beach is very pleasant and beautiful and over the years it became the "poster" of Crete- one of the most photographed parts of the island to depict this magical place.

#Tips:
Keep in mind that the beach may be full of people, especially during tourist season.

There is a scuba diving center with diving activities for different levels.

Stavros
#About the Beach and Village of Zorba the Greek

The village of Stavros is located at the northern part of Akrotiri Peninsula. It is a fishing village famous for the Sirtaki dance from the film Zorba the Greek, where Anthony Quinn dances on the village shore. The film was released in 1964 and was based on a 1952 book by Nikos Kazantzakis, a Crete native.

The film tells the story of a man who meets a mine worker full of zest for life and leads him to a significant change. Kazantzakis was nominated for the Nobel Prize for Literature and lost it to Albert Camus by the margin of a single vote. That year, Albert Camus died, claiming that Kazantzakis was worthy of the prize and he was not.

Incidentally, not many people know that the Sirtaki dance that was immortalized in the film is not a traditional folk dance, but a dance that was invented for the film. Following the film's success, the dance became popular all over the world and in Greece itself. It is a unique folk dance created in the studio.

TLV Beach
#About the Beautiful Beaches of Tel Aviv

All over the world you can hear about the beaches of Tel Aviv. It's not just that there is a sea here, something natural or special. On the contrary, this beach is one of the lowest quality beaches in terms of swimming or water quality. But what makes the beaches of Tel Aviv so special, beyond the wonderful promenade of the city and the latest improvements introduced, is the spirit of freedom in them. The happy, free Israelis are the ones who make conversation in seconds and do not make a fuss about anything, the hotties, the ice-cream vendors, the Middle Eastern people, and more.

The Tel Aviv beaches have people playing "matkot," as annoying as this may be, it is a part of the uniqueness of the Tel Aviv beach. All the tourists say the Tel Aviv beaches are amazing!

#This is Where Tel Aviv Was Born

Here, on the Tel Aviv beach, history was made. Here, several dozen families gathered on April 11, 1909, with the intention of establishing a neighborhood of low-rise houses surrounded by gardens. They established the Ahuzat Bayit neighborhood, which was built outside Jaffa. Soon enough, already by the 1920's, it began to spread towards Rothschild Boulevard and onward - north to the Tel Aviv we see today around us!

Givat Aliya
#About the Beach

The Israeli beaches have long been Westernized, modern, touristy and, to a large extent, sad to say, boring. One of the last beaches in Israel that still has the feeling of an authentic and pleasant beach is the beach of Givat Aliya in Jaffa. The beautiful beach includes free parking and is located in the Arab Ajami neighborhood. If you do not try to remember that it is in Tel Aviv, you can imagine that you are on the shores of Morocco, Tunisia or another Arab country - all in the best sense of the word! Because this beach, or Ajami beach, is a pleasant beach, whose design is in the style of the shores of the past.

It is designed with a kind of balconies, oriental arches, palm trees and sandstone structures. At its edges are natural blue coves, sand dunes with horseback riders who sometimes cross the beach and seem to be detached from old movies. And there is a cozy café in the center.

The beach has a natural reef and is fun to swim in, while in the center there is a lifeguard and it is recommended to swim in this safe area.

On the northern side of the beach is the Jaffa slope park, a pleasant Jaffa complex on the seashore, about one kilometer long and 200,000 square meters in size. It has many grassy areas, walking trails, cycling and more.

Once, we'll tell you quietly, there was a dump here. The Tel Aviv municipality used this beach as the main dump of the large city. But over the years, the city's leaders understood the enormity of the mistake and turned the former dump into this pleasant and peaceful Mediterranean park.

Enjoy!

Ballos Lagoon
#About Crete's Magical Turquoise Lagoon

Many see Ballos Beach in Crete as one of the most beautiful beach in Greece, and even in the world. With the vibrant Ballos Lagoon, and the turquoise, shallow, and warm waters, this is without a doubt the most impressive beach in Crete.

The beach is like a Caribbean dream in the Mediterranean. It's possible to swim in these waters, tan in the warm sun, run for hours on the beach, or just walk in the water for hundreds of miles from the beach - to the small island not far from shore.

Ballos Beach is located north west of Crete, near the resort town of Kissamos. Nature lovers enjoy this beach thanks to the separation from civilization, even though that beach can get pretty crowded. Many like the visual look of the beach, and others like the wonderful selfies that can be taken here. Whatever makes you love this beach, this is a great lagoon for a nice vacation. If you come here - you will not regret it!

#Tips
Bring Sea sandals, since there are sea urchins here.

In the tourist filled summers, try coming here during the middle of the week, and not in the morning hours.

The beach is a little far from the road. For walking down the sand dunes - bring appropriate footwear.

Bring food and drinks because there are no stalls or eateries here. A snorkel will also be handy at this beach.

Agios Nikolaos
#About the Quiet Town with a Lake and Easy Going Attractions

Agios Nikolaos is located a few kilometers East from the capital of Heraklion, however before the 1960's, the town was barely heard of, especially outside of Crete. In the 1960's it was discovered by someone we all know, who made the town the super brand it is today. This was someone who drew and produced...the legendary Walt Disney. He fell in love with this little town, and following his lead many cinematographers floated here, who made this town trendy and hip. Later on came the fans, and Agios Nikolaos became the popular vacation town today - a beautiful beach town of the eastern coastline of the Island of Crete.

Successful but modest. This is a calm vacation spot, like the lake that lays here, takes its time slowly. This is a freshwater lake, but due to the stench of its stagnant waters in the 19th century was connected to the sea in 1867.

It is less necessary to talk about nightlife in Agios Nikolaos. Better to talk about the evening life. The evenings are usually focused on walking streets adjacent to the port and the beaches, with bars and tavernas on the harbor, endless stores and an atmosphere of freedom and fun.

If Hersonissos and Malia attract the younger and more wild tourists, the nightly entertainment seekers, the alcohol and the hormone-filled clubs, the music and the dancing, Agios Nikolaos is suitable for the older and more relaxed tourist. You will not find noisy parties here into the night, and compared to the noise and hustle and bustle of Hersonissos and Malia, Agios Nikolaos will help you sleep calmly and relaxed. A quiet, relaxed city for older, more relaxed people.

#Beaches

The beaches of Agios Nikolaos are:

Kitroplatia Beach - the main beach near the town center. A well taken care of beach near really great tavernas.

Ammos Beach - the town's south beach, near the marina. Ammos means 'sand' in Greek, named for its great sandy coastline. The beach has sunbathing chairs for rent and nearby restaurants.

Ammoudi Beach - a small beach located in a natural bay and far away from the town's winds. This beach can get crowded, but on a day with strong winds, it is much nicer to swim here, and there are lots of water activities as well.

#About the Real Crete

Around Kissamos there are no archeological sites or special tourist attractions, and this is precisely what is attractive about it. Here you can find nature and real local Crete culture.

You can start by going through a narrow canyon with dramatic views, a road leads into tunnels through the mountains and the special chestnut valley. The valley is luscious with groves where vines and chestnuts are grown.

At Kissamos there is a fascinating geological phenomenon of rock columns called Komolithi, and these are unique to the Crete region.

You will be able to stay in Kissamos in quiet towns, see monasteries and Greek-orthodox churches, dine with locals in authentic tavernas and enjoy walking in around the uncommercialized alleyways.
