In the Botanical Gardens in front of you, you can see over 7,000 species from around the world. There is an Alpine garden, Asian garden, fauna garden, winter garden, and a medicinal garden, and even a rain forest.
This is the University's Botanical Gardens, the oldest in Canada. It opened in 1916 by the first botanist of the university, John Davidson. Its original purpose was for research for British Columbia's flowers, however today it displays flowers from around the world, and is used as a place for research, education, preservation, and presenting plants from around the world.
