The island, whose size is about 8 square kilometers, is nicknamed by locals Ada. The island is located in the middle of the Sava River that passes through the city, only a few kilometers from the meeting of the river with the Danube River.
Next to the promenade is the island's beach, over 7 kilometers long. Next to the beach are grassy areas, sporting facilities and water sporting facilities, picnic tables, and more.
Of course along the beach there are many cafes and oyster restaurants, some located on large boats that dock along the harbor.
Ada is a favorite vacation spot in the city. In summer, the beaches to the lake are packed with sunbathers and swimmers in the chilly water. On the long promenade locals all year along stay active, they walk, run, ride bikes, and rollerskate. There are also soccer, tennis, and volleyball courts, a climbing wall, a great bunjy facility, golf course, and more.
