About the Baroque Church with the Lake and its Modern StatueThis impressive Baroque church is considered one of the largest North of the Alps, and its architectural elements draw inspiration from Turkish architecture. The church has an impressive façade with a swimming pool with a huge modern statue, the Hill Arches, belonging to Henry Moore, one of the most important statues of the 20th century.
After the outbreak of the plague, which took quite a few victims, Charles VI, the Holy Roman Emperor at the time, swore to build the church. Finally, the church was built between 1715 and 1737 by the architect and city planner Johann Fischer von Erlach.
