About Chania's MarketThe Chania Public Market is considered on the prettiest market in Greece, and in Europe all together. It was started during the celebration of Crete's unification with Greece at the start of the 20th century.
The market was design in the shape of a cross, inspired by the market in the French city of Marseille. It has about 80 stores and cafes, and has been called "Agora" since its establishment, meaning coming together.
Lots of products are sold in the market, groceries, and local products especially. As can be expected, lots of olive oil is offered here, as well as honey, spices, vegetables, and all kinds of local teas.
TipsThe market is open from Monday to Saturday, from the morning until around 1:30 pm.
