The Hospice is an Austrian coffee ShopFar away in Via Dolorosa, in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, is the Austrian hospice, hospice in the sense of hospitality rather than of a hospital. Here you can sit down for a cup of good coffee and an apple strudel like in Europe, but more importantly - enter for a short time a Viennese bubble, right in the heart of the old city. Maybe the strudel here is not really in the Viennese standard but it's worth trying ...
There is also an excellent Viennese schnitzel and something rare in the Old City - a glass of cold beer that is so good on a hot day. From the roof you can get a beautiful view of the Old City and the area around Jerusalem.
The place was established in the 19th century as a guest house for Christian pilgrims. It was officially inaugurated by Emperor Franz Josef and is still a popular place for visitors from abroad, and you will enjoy moments of other charm, within the sweaty and amazing charm of the Old City itself.
