About Holland's Windmill TownKinderdijk is a windmill town. This town has the most dense population of ancient windmills, no less than 19 windmills that have survived since 1740. Since they were built, they were located one next to the other, to drain water from the ground, and pour it into the nearby river, helping dry wetlands for agriculture.
Today many tourists come here to see this beautiful sight, and a technology that dates back 200 years, along with Holland's modern settings. Windmills are the parents of wind turbines, which are much more advanced and known to us all today. Just like then, besides draining the ground, windmills were already being used as a source of energy from water and wind, which was crucial to the Dutch people.
