On both sides of the street you will see colorful houses called Konaklari. These are traditional Ottoman style houses, built on pedestrian walkways, paved with rocks, and gives the feeling that time has stopped. The street ends at the Gulhane metro station.
These wooden Ottoman houses were built during the 19th and 20th centuries, Back then, the neighborhood was called Hagia Sohpia, and also called Hagia Sophia Estates. Each house has two or three floors, with 4-10 doors. They were renovated in the 1880's and have become a small and protect gem in the city.
