A relaxing and easy day trip is to Büyük Ada. Its name, Big Island, points to it being the largest island, 5 square kilometers. The Prince's Islands, a group of islands in the marble sea, a short distance from southern Istanbul.
The island, one hour away from Istanbul by ferry, has 20,000 residents. During summer and especially during hot days, many Turkish families come to visit, and the upper class rents out summer homes on the island.
This island has no cars, and most of the commute on this island is by a horse drawn carriage, by bike, or by foot. The zero cars here improves the air quality, as opposed to the air in Istanbul, here you will breath fresh and clean area.
The style of building here is also very different than in Istanbul.
In the Byzantine period, the island Buyukada was called in the Greek name, Prinkipo, today it has several beaches, which will usually be full of visitors.
On the island you will find an abundance of restaurants, mostly specializing in seafood, with mezzes on the side. The tourist restaurants are not cheap, but usually prepare delicious and fresh fish.
The island has many resorts, with pools, beautiful beaches, and more pampering than most beaches.
