One of the more impressive boats here is the Suphannahong. This boat was used for the king, when he personally led the parade during the Kathin. This ancient ceremony in Buddhism is for donating robes to monks.
These days, the king uses ground transportation for his trips, but the royal boats here are decorated with sculptures and colored red and gold, showing the beauty and grandeur that the kings of Thailand once glorified as they sailed in their boats, across rivers and canals, into all the corners of their kingdom.
