The garden is located on Montjuïc Hill, in the area that in the past was a quarry, near the Castell de Montjuïc.
The park is one of three parks dedicated to the Catalonian poets. It was dedicated to Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer, who wrote on in one of his songs a beautiful line, that translate means more or less, "the rose is beautiful, more beautiful is the bouquet, more beautiful the lilies, that bloom each year."
Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer was planned by Joaquim Maria Casamor, who was an architect in the Department of Parks and Gardens in Barcelona. The park was opened in June 1970 by the designer himself and the mayor of Barcelona back then.
