The Mercado de San Ildefonso has 3 floors, that are designed as 20 food stalls and a number of bars. The food here is high quality and really good. This market was built over the ruins of the old covered market that operated here until 1970.
In contrast to most markets in Madrid, which are closed on Sundays, Mercado de San Ildefonso is opened on Sundays as well, and many come here to enjoy eating and drinking with friends.
The Malasana is a particularly bohemian neighborhood. Besides this great market, there are restaurants, and great tapas bars, nice cafes, and many bars scattered around the streets.
