The famous fountain is in the neo-Classical style. Though it was created hundreds of years ago, the fountain is in the Classical style, that characterized the sculpting of ancient Greece and Rome.
The name of the fountain was named after Cybelle, the goddess of nature of the Phrygian religion, which can be compared with the Greek goddess Gaea.
The goddess is described in the statue, she is sitting in a carriage being pulled by two lions. The statue of the goddess of nature tied to a carriage with lions in a fountain is considered one of the prettiest monuments in the city, in a city that is considered one of the cities most influenced by monuments and statues in all of Europe.
The fountain was planned by the sculptor Ventura Rodríguez, and took 5 years to complete in the days of King Carlos III. The statue of the goddess was created by Francis Gutierrez, and the lions by Roberto Michel.
