Once it was just for royal family members, who used it as hunting grounds. It is also a forest created by King Philip II.
Today Casa de Campo is open to all. There are many walking trails and bike riding lanes, a fun amusement park, boats for sailing on the lake, sports facilities, wide greenhouse, food stalls with delicious local foods and few cafes and restaurants.
The park itself is spread on almost 20 square kilometers and is without a doubt the largest public park in Madrid. There is the large Madrid Zoo and Aquarium.
You can arrive at Casa de Campo from the cable car, leaving from Parque de Oeste.
