From hundreds of stores of all kinds, through the largest department stores in the city, cinemas with huge posters of the new films displayed in them, and thousands of cars, taxis and buses crossing at any given moment.
In the square you can meet all the edges of Madrid's population. From businessmen who pass here and hurry to their affairs, to the homeless and the poor, who are begging here. Street artists, portrait painters and talented musicians find a livelihood here and mothers pass along with their children on the way home or from it.
