The church is named after Cyril and Methodius. The two were Greek brothers, educated monks, that during the first Bulgarian Empire, in the 9th century, they created the Slavic letters.
The cathedral, with the impressive dome, was completed in 1907. It is an impressive cathedral built between 1897 - 1907, according to the plans of Italian architect Ricardo Toscano.
The Church of Saint Cyril and Methodius is one of the most toured destinations in the city. One look at the building is enough to know that this building is both impressive and special, you can understand how it became one of Burgas' symbols, and of the most beautiful churches in Bulgaria. If you come on a sunny day at the right time, you will be able to see on the main church dome the reflection of the sun between the windows that make up the dome.
The Church of Saint Cyril and Methodius is no less impressive on the inside than it is on the outside. This church is decorated with special and intriguing frescoes, colorful and beautifully painted wall paintings, these are the most interesting displays in the church. In the church are beautiful windows about the main church with figures of two brothers and wooden carvings.
In 1979 the church was declared an architectural monument with national value to the Bulgarian culture.
